“Election Commission tells Politicians not to publish pictures of Covid19SL relief efforts to get advantage”

The Election Commission in a statement to the press has emphasized to Politicians on the need to refrain from gaining political mileage while engaging in providing relief to the public who are in difficulty due to the island wide curfew.

While appreciating the generous donations and relief efforts carried out by various stakeholders in the society, the election commission specifically states that they have observed that a minority of the politicians involved in such relief efforts have been publishing pictures on media and social media in order to gain political mileage, which in their opinion is not suitable in a crisis situation.

EC has further stated that they expect everyone to come together to defeat the Covid-19 threat putting aside divisions among them, particularly political divisions and also have requested for the same.
